Military Medic to BSN

The Military Medic to Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Basic option is designed to assist recent veterans and current reservists who have prior military medical training and service experience to qualify for advanced standing credit in a baccalaureate level nursing program.
 
The Military Medic to BSN option prepares men and women from culturally and ethnically diverse communities for a career as professional nurses. Graduates function as providers, managers and leaders of direct and indirect comprehensive care in a variety of health care settings. BSN graduates demonstrate the knowledge, proficiency and cultural competence of an educated person including the ability to synthesize general and professional education.

Admission Requirements:

In addition to the general college admission requirements, students seeking entrance into the Military Medic to BSN-B program must have met the following criteria:
  • Meet minimum Military/Reservist medical experience requirements with additional civilian health care experience as needed
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Completion of all required prerequisite general education courses with a “C” (2.0) or above

The Registrar will evaluate the student transcript and complete a credit guide to formally approve the following specific courses that must be completed with a C or above. Science courses must be taken within the last 7 years prior to the date of enrollment in the program. Two of the following courses may be taken in the first semester of the program (with the exception of Anatomy and Physiology I & II or Microbiology) in order to be full-time.

A student cannot change program “at will.” A change would necessitate reapplication with no guarantee of acceptance in another program. Students must complete the entire Bachelor of Science program of study before being eligible to apply for NCLEX-RN.
